Money & Work
Work out your gross pay for any pay period, with overtime at time-and-a-half (1.5×) or double time (2×).
Overtime pay is simple multiplication: your regular pay is your hourly rate times your regular hours, and your overtime pay is your hourly rate times the overtime multiplier times your overtime hours. At time-and-a-half, a $25/hour rate becomes $37.50 for every overtime hour. Under the U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act, most hourly (non-exempt) workers must be paid at least 1.5× their regular rate for hours worked over 40 in a single workweek — overtime is counted weekly, not by pay period, which is why this calculator lets you enter any period and any hours.
This calculator shows gross pay before taxes and deductions, and it does not include shift differentials, bonuses, or holiday premiums. Some states (like California) have daily overtime rules that pay 1.5× after 8 hours in a day and 2× after 12 — check your state labor rules or your pay stub if that applies to you.
